Day of the Dead Family Day
November 2, 2003
2:00–4:00

The Tyler Museum of Art will host a special family celebration on Sunday, November 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This Family Day event is part of Latin Visions, a series of exhibitions and events celebrating Latino/Latina achievements, culture, and lifestyle. Latin Visions is a project of the Tyler Museum of Art, the Tyler Junior College Student Enrichment Series, the Helen S. Boylan Foundation, and the Rogers Endowment for Excellence.

Day of the Dead, better known as Dia de los Muertos, is a joyous celebration emanating from Mayan, Aztec, and Catholic traditions. On November 1 and 2, families across Mexico gather to celebrate the lives of deceased loved ones. The Tyler Museum of Art will be celebrating this tradition on Sunday, November 2nd with a festival from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. The day’s events will include art activities, refreshments, and live entertainment. There will also be a Dia de los Muertos exhibition by area middle school and high school students. Schools participating include Moore Magnet School, Hubbard Middle School, Dogan Middle School, Stewart Middle School, John Tyler High School, and Robert E. Lee High School.

The TMA Family Day is free and open to the public.
