The slide lecture will also highlight connections between Hopper’s French paintings and his later, more familiar images of the American scene. Celebrated as one of America’s foremost realist painters, Edward Hopper began to develop the hallmarks of his distinctive style during three trips that he made to Paris between 1906 and 1910. Edward Hopper: The Paris Years features more than forty paintings and works on paper that reveal how vital Hopper’s experiences as a young expatriate in Paris were to his distinctive vision of America. The exhibition was organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.

The lecture and gallery talk is free for TMA members. Non-member price is $5. There will be a reception following the presentation. Please call 903-595-1001 for reservations. Seating is limited.
