Sherry Dunn Joins TMA Staff June 16, 2004 Kimberley Bush Tomio, Director of the Tyler Museum of Art, announced yesterday that Sherry Dunn has assumed the duties of Development Officer at the Museum. Ms. Dunn is a former President of the Junior League of Tyler and served JLT in a variety of positions over the years, chairing various committees and receiving extensive training in many areas including management, strategic planning, financial affairs, and community relations. Included among the many positions she held were Public Relations Committee, Cookbook Marketing Chairman, Community Vice President, Invitations Chairman for Mistletoe and Magic, and Computer Chairman. She was President/Director of Acorns to Oaks Montessori School, Inc. from the mid-80s to 1990. She purchased the existing preschool in 1985 and took it from a morning-only preschool program with 35 students to a full-time child care and preschool program with over 70 students. Ms. Dunn was also a Cost Studies Analyst for Gulf States United Telephone Company in Tyler and a Portfolio Analyst for Fayez Sarofim & Co. in Houston. As Tyler Museum of Art Development Officer, Ms. Dunn will coordinate all private sector fund raising and development activities, including the planning and directing of the Annual Fund, Major Gifts Program, Deferred Giving Program, Capital Campaign, and Endowment Drive. In addition, she will work with the TMA staff on identifying potential areas for exhibition and special project funding and assist with grant writing. |
