Seats Still Open for TMA Bus Trip to King Tut Exhibition in Dallas A limited number of seats are still available for the next trip in the “On the Road with the TMA” series, as the Tyler Museum of Art loads up the bus for a special tour of the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art on Wednesday, November 12. The DMA is the first stop on a three-city encore tour of the U.S. for Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, which features an extensive array of more than 130 artifacts from the tomb of King Tut and other ancient Egyptian sites. The Dallas engagement marks the first time these treasures have been displayed in the Southwest region, and includes a selection of artifacts that are new to the exhibition and have never before been seen outside of Egypt. A chartered bus is scheduled to depart promptly at 9 a.m. on the morning of November 12 from the TMA parking lot at 1300 S. Mahon Ave., adjacent to the Tyler Junior College campus off East Fifth Street. Participants will make their own arrangements for lunch upon arrival in Dallas, then regroup at the DMA for the exhibition tour, which begins at 1 p.m. The group is scheduled to depart from Dallas at approximately 4:30 p.m. Reservation deadline is Monday, November 10. Spaces are available at $85 for TMA Members and $95 for non-members. The cost includes round-trip transportation and refreshments on the bus, admission to Golden Age of the Pharaohs plus the DMA’s Permanent Collection, audio guide, and a ticket to the 3-D film Egypt 3D: Secrets of the Mummies; participants are on their own for lunch, with several options available within walking distance of the DMA. For reservations, call (903) 595-1001. For more information on other TMA exhibitions and events, visit www.tylermuseum.org. |
