Lecture by Tim Ternesand Diane von Arx on the exhibition Illuminating the Word: The Saint John's Bible. They will describe the scope of the project, the artistic and theologic parameters, detailing the many phases involved in the production, and update the audience on the final stages of what has been called a "Bible for the new millenium."

Members-only lecture by Christopher Calderhead, artist and graphic designer in the U.S. and Great Britain. Calderhead was elected to Fellowship in the Society of Scribes and Illuminators in 1988, and serves as editor of Alphabet, a journal of the lettering arts.

Diane von Arx is a U.S.-based calligraphy artist who contributed to The Saint John's Bible project. She will be giving a public demonstration on lettering and will create personalized book plates and name plates for visitors as time permits.

Group Tours
The Tyler Museum of Art is offering discounted ticket pricing for clubs and organizations that want to schedule group visits during the upcoming exhibition Illuminating the Word: The Saint John's Bible, June 9September 3, 2006.
Special exhibition ticket rates are available for $7.00 per person for all groups booking at least two weeks in advance, with a minimum of 10 adults (student and children's tickets remain at regular pricing).
If your group wants to schedule a special docent-led tour, an additional charge of $20 will be charged per group of 15 visitors. Groups numbering more than 15 will need to be divided so all guests will have adequate access to the exhibition. Multiple groups can view the exhibition at the same time in various galleries. For very large groups, sequential tour times can be scheduled. Call 903-595-1001, ext. 206 or email tours@tylermuseum.org to schedule a docented tour.
